Habitat: Golden pheasants inhabit mountainous areas in central China at altitudes up to 2000 meters above sea level, in the mountain forests of southeastern Tibet and northern Assam. They avoid forested, swampy, and open areas.
Diet: They mainly feed on leaves and shoots of various shrubs, as well as bamboo. They also eat rhododendron flowers and often peck at small beetles and spiders for variety.
